Embryos: Day 3
Enbrel Anyone?

Still no word from Dr. Italian on how my 3 day old embryos are doing. I sent him an email a few hours to inquire, but nothing. I know he's not at work today, so I hope that it's because he's busy and not for other reasons.

On another note: if any of you ladies use enbrel for immune/infertility related issues, I have 2 prefilled syringes that I am not going to use. Leave me a comment if you'd like them and we'll find a way to get them to you. I think they expire in a month or two so I'd like someone who needs them to use them. They're great for RA in case you know of an elderly person w/o insurance that can use them, too.

Hi Linda,

I'm glad to hear things are going well for you so far! I'd be *very* happy with two good looking embryos at this stage of the game--I figure it only takes one!

Yes, I've been to Nogales 3 times. We went twice in the fall of '08 and another time last spring for a booster. If we ever make it to transfer with our upcoming IVF attempt (I'm working long distance with Dr. Italian now too) we'll probably go back again one last time since LIT seems to lower my (super high) NK cells more efficiently than anything else. I've also been doing monthly IVIG for the last year or so in conjunction w/ natural cycles, but I get home infusions--haven't ever been to AEB in person. Luckily, I haven't needed Enbrel or Humira so far.

RE: Surgery vs. Other Interventions--FYI, I actually agree with Dr. Persian about Lupron being a crappy option in terms of run-of-the-mill treatment for endo. In women who are young enough and have a sufficient ovarian reserve to handle it, I think surgery is probably a much better option. But I also think, for some women, endo does bad things to the lining that surgery alone can't correct.

I'm absolutely 100% convinced I have an implantation problem that goes beyond just immune issues. For me, doing the Lupron Depot would be about re-setting my lining to make absolutely sure I have the most receptive environment possible. I know the research on Beta-3 Integrin is mixed but, anecdotally, I've seen too many success stories (specifically from women with endo) not to try it. I just can't stand the idea that I could be putting any more normal embryos back into an environment where they're doomed to fail, you know what I mean?

Anyway, with all the above in mind, we're planing to do a retrieval and then freeze everything (assuming there's something there to freeze!). I'll take the 2 months of Lupron and afterwards we'll do an FET (plus intralipids or IVIG). We're also considering CGH but haven't really made a final decision about that yet--it's so expensive! I guess I'm just to the point where I really need to know if I can make normal embryo or not.

Anyway, I hope you hear something back from Dr. Italian soon! I'm so impatient I'd probably be crawling the walls right about now, but I'm sure if the news was bad you'd have heard something by now.

Good luck and please keep up posted!!

Julie
