The Solkowski Side

I was born Helen Solkowski to my mother, Elizabeth Solkowski. I was baptized January 15, 1965, by Father Herman Heideker at St. Mary's church in Whittier, California, and at the age of 11 months, I was adopted by my mother's aunt, Florence Solkowski Fischer and was promptly renamed Linda Ann Fischer. This geneaological information is in regards to both my biological and adoptive mothers. Upon meeting my father, Robert Caplinger, I decided to change my name to reflect my true parentage. What, with all the name changes I'd already gone through, what was one more?

There are no documents establishing with absolute certainty the birthplace of Jadwiga Bivil and her husband Frank Solkowski. Her passport documents cite the town of her birthplace as "Keydano", a city which I have as of yet, not been able to locate on any map or document. However, Jadwiga told her children that she was born in Crakow, Poland, so it appears that her true birthplace remains a mystery for the time being.

Any information prior to 1900 was obtained by family members through stories, or rough translations of birth certificates, baptismal documents, and passports. I will attempt to carefully note where information was obtained through official documents.
